Firmware and Backup

This page allows you to update the device firmware, check for new firmware versions, create a backup, restore settings, and migrate data.

Firmware

Page elements

  1. Firmware update section:

    • uploading a firmware file from the web interface,
    • checking for a new firmware version (triggered manually or automatically when the page is opened by an administrator); if a newer version is detected, it can be installed with a single click – the firmware file will be automatically downloaded and the firmware upload function will be executed.
  2. Device restart section.

  3. Backup and restore section:

    • creating a backup file,
    • restoring settings from a backup file,
    • restoring factory default settings.
  4. Data migration section:

    • exporting data to a file,
    • importing data from a file.

Firmware update

The firmware can be updated entirely from within a web browser – no additional software is required. The process consists of selecting a firmware file and uploading it using the form available on the page.

It is recommended to create a backup of the settings before performing an update.

Firmware files are available on the website:

tinycontrol.pl

After the firmware upload process is completed, the device will be automatically restarted to apply the new software version.

Alternative: LKTools

Alternatively, the firmware can be updated using the LKTools program, available at:
https://tinycontrol.pl/pl/lktools/

LKTools allows firmware updates for most tinycontrol devices, including the LK4.

Checking for updates

From this page, you can check whether a newer firmware version is available.

The check can be triggered manually using the Check for updates now button or automatically when the page is opened by an administrator.

After the check is completed, information about the availability of a new version (or the lack of one) will be displayed. If a newer firmware version is available, a notification will also appear in the top navigation bar.

If a new version is detected, it can be installed directly from the page – the firmware file will be automatically downloaded and installed on the device.

Checking for updates requires Internet access from the user’s web browser.

Backup and restore

Creating and restoring a backup

This function allows you to save the current device configuration to a file (backup) and restore it at any time.

The backup file contains the complete device configuration and can be used to restore settings after a firmware update or in case of a failure.

Restoring factory settings

This function allows you to restore the device to its factory default settings.

This operation removes the current configuration and resets the device to its default state.

Data migration

The data migration function allows exporting and importing device settings.

Data is exported in JSON format and divided into thematic configuration groups. The user can select which groups should be exported and which should be imported.

This function can be used to transfer configuration between devices as well as to create a backup of selected settings.

Thanks to selective export and import, it is possible to omit specific groups of data, such as network settings or other parameters unique to a given device.
